MS ENT is a postgraduate surgical studies program of 3 years. MS ENT full form is Master of Surgery Ear Nose Throat. This course focuses mainly on the critical aspects of otolaryngology, ENT studies, and subsequent training on various surgical procedures for ENT-related problems. Some basic subjects pursued in-depth include anesthesia, general medicine ward, general surgical methods, Radiology and Radiotherapy, Plastic surgery, etc. The admission process for MS ENT courses varies from university to university; some universities/colleges conduct entrance examinations while others take direct admission.

The MS ENT salary in India may vary depending on the experience gained in the field and the skill set possessed. In the initial stages, the average salary ranges between INR 10 and 40 Lakhs annually.

Eligibility Criteria

  • A candidate must have a 50% aggregate score in ug medical courses such as MBBS or any specialized MBBS program from a recognized university.
  • A candidate must also have adequate practical training of at least 2 years before applying for the ms program.
  • The candidates should also appear for national /university levels examinations such as NEET, AIIMS-CET, NIHMANS, JIPMER, etc. which will determine the candidate’s proficiency and technical ability to pursue this course.
  • There is also a relaxation of 5% in the total marks in NEET-PG scores, i.e., 45% marks are enough for the SC/ST category students.

Admission Process

Admission to the MS ENT program is conducted either through entrance examination or merit-based. Admissions applications can be made from the University website or by visiting the Admissions Office. Candidates need to fill out the required details according to the existing documents.

Merit-Based Admission

Most colleges provide direct admission to the course based on the marks obtained in their bachelor’s degree.

The following documents are required at the time of admission:

  1. High school certificate (10th standard) as proof of date of birth.
  2. All MBBS university professional examination marks certificates.
  3. MBBS degree/provisional certificate.
  4. Internship completion certificate.
  5. PG diploma certificate (if applicable).
  6. Valid permanent/provisional registration certificate issued by MCI/ State Medical Council.
  7. Copy of application forms.
  8. 3 stamp-size photographs.
  9. A CD (Compact disc) containing scanned copies of all the relevant documents.

Entrance-Based Admission

Admission also takes place through Entrance Exams, and the following are some of the important points related to the same.       

  • Few universities and colleges conduct their entrance exam for admission to the course.     
  • The admission procedure is done online or offline and sometimes through both modes.       
  • You can start filling out the application form and all the details.      
  • Once all the details are filled out, you must choose the city for the exam centre.
  • Save the application and pay via net banking/debit card/credit card.  
  • Submit the form before the deadline.

MS ENT Entrance Exam

  • AIIMS PG—The full form of AIIMS PG is the All India Institute of Medical Sciences Postgraduate Entrance Exam. The AIIMS PG entrance exam is a gateway for admission into MD, MS, M.Ch. DM, and MDS. It is a national-level exam conducted by the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi. The AIIMS PG is a National-Level Entrance Examination that is conducted in January and July every year.
  • NEET PG- National Board of Examinations (NBE) is an autonomous body under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India. The National Board Of Examinations held the first NEET PG from the 23rd of November till the 6th of December in 2012, referred to as NBE, conducts the "Testing Windows”.NET PG for the Admission of Postgraduate Course in Medicine. The NEET PG Exam is held once a year in January.
  • JIPMER PG—Jawaharlal Institute of PostGraduate Medical Education & Research is a national-level entrance exam conducted in two sessions in January and July. It is conducted by one of the leading Medical Institutions of India, JIPMER, which was established in 1823 under the Government of India. Candidates will be offered admission into PG-level courses in the field of Medicine.
  • PGIMER—PGIMER stands for the Postgraduate Institute for Medical Education and Research. Admission through the PGIMER Entrance Exam takes place biannually—once in January and the other in July. Candidates interested in getting admission into any of the courses, MDS and M.Sc. /M.Sc. MLT, DM/M.Ch, MD, etc., in the PGIMER, Chandigarh, are expected to appear for the PGIMER Exam, an admission or entrance test for all these courses.
  • AIPGET—AIAPGET Stands for All India Ayush Postgraduate Entrance Test. The All India Institute of Ayurveda (AIIA), Sarita Vihar, New Delhi, used to conduct the AIAP GET exam, which is the gateway for admission to M.D/M.S courses in Ayurveda, Unani, Siddha, and the Homeopathy system of Medicine. It is a national-level exam conducted once a year by the National Testing Agency (NTA) in a computer-based mode (online).
