Is MD forensic medicine scope?
MD Forensic Medicine or Doctorate of Medicine in Forensic Medicine is a Doctorate level course that focuses on studying scientific knowledge for crime investigations, Forensic Psychology, General Forensic Medicine, etc. The course is offered for 3 years, and the last year mainly focuses on Research projects & proposals and Forensic practices.
Aspirants wishing to opt for MD Forensic Medicine must have completed their bachelor's degree (preferably MBBS or equivalent) with 55% scores. Admissions are mostly made through scores of NEET-PG, AICET, UPSEE, and other state-level exams and followed by a GD/ PI round. However, some colleges offer direct admission on a merit basis.
Eligibility Criteria
- Must have completed MBBS or any equivalent degree from a recognized University by MCI.
- Should have secured at least 55% marks in MBBS degree or an equivalent degree or may be required to qualify for any entrance exam.
- Candidates may also be asked for work experience or must have completed a 1-year rotating Internship in the same field.
Admission Process
In India, MD Forensic Medicine admissions are offered merit-based and based on the marks secured by students in the entrance test. For admission into India's top-ranked and best colleges, students are selected based on their AIR rank in the NEET-PG exam and called for a GD/ PI round.
For merit-based admissions, students are required to take part in the counseling process, and students are shortlisted based on their scores in MBBS degree or any other relevant degree. Selected students may be called for document verification, and after that, they must pay the amount to confirm their admissions.
