Eligibility Criteria

Students must check the Master of Surgery eligibility criteria before enrolling in the MS degree program. Aspiring candidates need to appear for the NEET PG exam. The National Board of Examinations conducts the NEET PG exam and is the basis of admission to the MS degree course among all medical colleges in India. To pursue MS courses in medical colleges, candidates must fulfill certain NEET PG eligibility criteria, including age limit, academic qualification, and internship requirements.

  • Degree - Candidates must possess an MBBS degree or provisional MBBS pass certificate
  • Registration certificate - Aspirants must obtain a provisional or permanent registration certificate issued by MCI or State Medical Council (SMC)
  • Internship - Candidates must complete a one-year rotatory internship and get the completion certificate.

Fees Structure

MS fees vary from one medical college or university to another. Before enrolling in medical colleges, students should check the MD or Doctor of Medicine fee structure. Master of Surgery or MS fee ranges between Rs. 1150 to Rs. 56,0000.

Application Process

Admissions to the postgraduate course of MS are made based on the NEET PG examination. Every year around 1.5 lakh candidates register for NEET PG, out of which in the year 2019, a total of 79,633 candidates qualified the same and a significant number of them opted for MS. NEET PG is conducted nationwide by the National Board of Education, and is the common test for admission to both MS and MD courses. When counseling, candidates must select whether they wish to choose MD or MS. The allotment of seats will be based on the merit rank of each candidate and score.
