Aligarh Muslim University is one of India's largest central universities, registering more than 37327 students. The university accepts students from all states in India and different countries, especially Africa, West Asia, and Southeast Asia. AMU has 13 faculties comprising 117 teaching departments, 3 academies, and 21 centers and institutes. AMU courses are approved by the UGC (University Grants Commission). At AMU, most staff and students reside on campus, with 19 residence halls for students and 80 hostels. AMU has off-campus in Murshidabad (West Bengal), Malappuram (Kerala), and Kishanganj (Bihar).
AMU offers more than 300 programs in the traditional and modern branches of education. Apart from the common courses like BA, B.Voc., BSc, etc., the university is also popular for its B.Tech and MBBS programs. Course admission is based on the Departmental Admission Test and the Entrance Exam conducted by AMU. Apart from this, admissions to several BA, B.Voc and BSc. Programs are based on CUET UG scores and counseling. AMU medical course admissions are based on NEET scores and counseling. AMU also offers distance education through its Centre For Distance And Online Education.
AMU Entrance Exam 2023
Admissions to several courses, such as BA (Hons.), B.Sc. (Hons.), etc., are based on Aligarh Muslim University Entrance Exam (AMUEE) scores. AMU also offers BTech and B.Arch admissions based on the Aligarh Muslim University Engineering Entrance Exam (AMUEEE). Entrance Exams for these programs are usually conducted in May. This year, admissions to these programs will only be offered to those students who qualify AMU Entrance Exam 2023.
The AMU entrance test is conducted once a year at the university level. The test paper for the exam is in English Language and MCQs based. The total duration for the same is 2 hours. After passing the entrance exam, Students will be required to undergo a counselling process. The counseling procedure will begin after the announcement of the AMU admission test. Counseling for AMU admission will be done independently based on the candidates' rankings.
AMU Application Process
Candidates can apply for admission at AMU only through Online mode. In another mode, the Application Form will not be accepted. Only one application is to be submitted by a candidate for each course of study. Follow the below-mentioned Steps to be admitted to AMU Programs:
- Visit the University website www.amucontrollerexams.com.
- Candidate should then register online and provide his / her correct and active email because the username and password will be sent to this email.
- Candidates should register only once for applying to the multiple courses.
- After Registering candidate should log in using his/her username and password. A dashboard of the candidate will be available to him/her for filling out the form.
- The candidate should fill out his/her Profile carefully. After saving the Profile, the candidate will be asked to check and confirm that the particulars entered are correct.
- Candidates should fill in details of his/her educational qualifications by providing the name of all examinations passed, including qualifying exam, Examination Roll No, year of passing, ., University/Board from where passed, and the percentage/CGPA obtained.
- Upload the important Documents required for admission, thumb impression, and colored photographs.
- Submit the Application fee via online mode only. The admission fee is not accepted in offline mode.
- The Application Form is submitted electronically when the candidate pays the processing charges and payment is successful.
- Candidates must take the printout of the Application form and keep it for future reference.
Note: Candidate will not be able to Edit/Update his/her Profile after confirmation. Suppose a candidate finds any mistake in his/her Profile after confirmation. In that case, he/she will have to re-register with a different Username and Password to complete all the entries afresh.
Documents Required
- Scanned copy of the candidate's date of birth certificate/High School Certificate.
- Passport Size Photographs.
- Scanned copy of marks sheet/grade sheet of the qualifying examination.
- Scanned copies of documents supporting a claim under a special category, if any.
- Reviewed copies of documents in support of Professional Experience, if any.
- Scanned copy of the No Objection Certificate from the employer if employed.
AMU Distance Education
AMU Centre of Distance Education offers admissions to distance education for its number of courses such as UG, PG, Diploma, etc. Admissions to all those courses are done on a merit basis and prepared by the university officials. Interested students must fill out their application form by visiting the official website of the AMU Centre of Distance Education. There is no requirement to get any ranking in the entrance exam, and all admission is done solely based on merit. The application processes can be completed both online and offline.
Application Process
- Both an offline and online version of the application is available. For all programs, there is a 300 INR application fee.
- To apply for an online admission, one must fill out the form and provide scanned copies of their supporting documentation.
- To apply for admission offline, candidates must send the application form, two copies of the required documentation, and seven passport-size photos.
- The candidate's performance in the prior qualifying exam, which the applicant completed, is considered when making a decision.
