Entrance Exam:

Some universities may require candidates to take an entrance exam before being admitted to the program.

Eligibility Criteria

Candidates wishing to pursue the course are required to fulfill the minimum criteria listed below in order to apply for the program:

  • MBBS, completed from an institute recognized by the Medical Council of India (MCI).
  • A minimum aggregate mark of 55% or equivalent CGPA at the graduation level.

Admission Procedure

Interested eligible students are offered admission to the program in India mostly based on a relevant entrance exam. Then, two additional rounds of Group Discussion and Personal Interviews are held as part of the counselling process, wherein the candidate’s general aptitude for the program is examined. A merit list is then released, allotting available seats to qualifying students. Some such exams held in the country for admission to the course are:

Museum techniques, embalming techniques including Medicolegal aspects, and knowledge of Anatomy Act.

Practical Schedule

Applied Anatomy.

Collection of tissues, fixing, block making, section cutting; use of different types of microtomes and preparation of general and systemic slides.

Principles of Microscopy and Histological techniques.

Hematoxylin& Eosin-

General and Systemic Histology.

Preparation of stains.

General and Systemic Embryology including Growth, Development and Teratology.

Staining techniques.

Neuroanatomy.

Knowledge of special staining techniques like Silver Nitrate, PAS staining, Osmium tetroxide, Van Gieson etc.

Surface Anatomy.

Embryo (chick embryo) mounting and serial sections of embryo – should be taken, stained with Hematoxylin & Eosin.
