Department of Computer Science & Engineering came into existence in 1994. The first degree program offered by the Department was B.E. (Computer Engineering) in affiliation with University of Rajasthan. The first batch graduated in 1996. Another degree programme BE (Information Technology) was initiated in 2001. Since 2004 after MREC was granted status of deemed university and included as NIT (National Institute of Technology), all BE programmes came to be known as B. Tech. In January 2004, first admissions to PhD programme took place. In 2008, M. Tech. (Computer Engineering) programme was initiated
