National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) conducts the examination NIFT for receiving admissions for courses like Bachelor of Design (B.Des) and Bachelor of Fashion Technology (B.F.Tech) courses. NIFT generally takes place in the month of January and is an offline test organised in different campuses of NIFT. However, candidates trying to take admissions for the B.Des program, must appear for the Creative Ability Test (CAT) and General Ability Test (GAT). The major important dates for the NIFT 2019 exams were already announced in the month of October. The results of the NIFT 2019 exams are expected to be out by the month of March. Exam Pattern for NIFT 2019 The NIFT 2019 exam would assess the knowledge of a candidate in terms of their skills and ability. There are two different exams that one has to take for different courses. Creative Ability Test (CAT) The CAT exam is to judge the performance of a candidate on the basis of their intuitive ability, observation in terms of concept development along with design abilities. Creativity and innovation are the two most essential elements of the exam. General Ability Test (GAT)
The GAT exam for B.Des consists of different constraints when compared to that of for the B. F. Tech exams. In case of the first one the duration of the exam is of 2 hours whereas for the latter one it is of 3 hours. The total marks for the first exam is 100 but in case of B. F Tech is 150 marks. In case of B.Des the subjects are English comprehension, Quantitative ability, Communication ability, Analytical ability and General knowledge and current affairs. In case of B.F.Tech they are Quantitative ability, Communication ability and English comprehension, Analytical and Logical Ability, General Knowledge and Current Affairs and Case study.
Situation Test for NIFT
The candidates who are shortlisted after they have appeared for the written examination have to further give the situation test. This is a hands-on exam for evaluating a candidate’s skills in terms of material handling and inventive abilities.
Preparation for NIFT Exam 2019
Apart from the basic rule of dedication, competitiveness and proper concentration there are certain tips that one can use when appearing for the NIFT exams.
Apart from the general tips, it is important that a candidate enters the examination centre with an open mind. They have to think bigger than the scope of imagination!
