MENTAL HEALTH NURSING

This course focuses on the role of a registered nurse in applying the nursing process to care for individuals of all ages who are experiencing acute and chronic mental health alterations in response to the internal and external environmental dimensions. Students will be exposed to a broad overview of psychosocial adaptation and coping concepts that are utilized in a wide variety of settings during providing care for the individual who is experiencing an altered state of mental health. Topics that are discussed include normal and abnormal behaviors, and common therapeutic treatments, interventions, communication and collaboration for optimal state of mental health.
