Plant Biotechnology is the science of developing new crop varieties, such as genetically engineered crops, marker-assisted selection genetics, and genomics. This research area helps identify and map genes, discover their functions, and transfer desired genes to specific plants according to requirements. This branch also studies all aspects of genetic engineering to improve the efficiency, expression, and precision of additional genes.
The program's problem-based learning method, which emphasizes genomics, proteomics, and metabolomics, is a hallmark of this program. Students will be learning the theory behind Plant Biotechnology, but they will also get to practice some of the techniques used to detect genetic variations in plants. Students will participate in problem-solving sessions to improve their ability to design and apply their research projects.
