The Karnataka Common Entrance Test (KCET) is one of the state-level examinations organized by the KEA (Karnataka Examinations Authority). This particular examination is conducted with an objective of selecting candidates for admission into Engineering courses, AYUSH, Farm Sciences, and B.Pharm programs. The KCET 2019 has been scheduled to be held across four days:

  • 23rd April, 2019: The exam will focus on Biology and Mathematics,
  • 24th April, 2019: It will focus on Physics and Chemistry,
  • 25th April, 2019: It will focus on Kannada Language.
  • 18th May, 2019: Agriculturist Practical Examination

Application Fees

The application fees for KCET 2019 are mentioned as follows:

General and OBC candidates: INR 650

SC/ST candidates: INR 500

Examination format

KCET 2019 is all set to host a total of 60 objective type questions in each of the sections. Depending upon the scores that candidates secure in the KCET, they shall be allotted seats into respective institutes. This is when their respective rankings would be considered to be the measurement unit.

The KEA has reported to conduct the KCET Agriculture Practical Test on 18th May, 2019 for those candidates who have been seeking admission under the ‘Agriculturist Quota’ in various Farm Universities. In order to allow candidates claim their seats under the particular quota, a test would be held on “Identification of Agriculture Related Specimens”. For securing qualification, candidates should score at least 50% marks in their examination.

Eligibility for attending KCET 2019

In order to be eligible for attending these examinations, candidates must fulfill the following criteria:

For Engineering Courses:

  • Interested candidates should have qualified the 10+2 or any equivalent examination from a recognized board.
  • Candidates should have passed their 10+2 with Physics and Mathematics as their main subjects
  • Candidates should also have passed English as their language subject.
  • General candidates should have scored at least 45% marks in Physics and mathematics and any of the following subjects: Biotechnology, Biology, Electronics, Chemistry, Computer science. The minimum marks required for ST/SC candidates to be considered eligible for the KCET 2019 is 40%.

For B.Pharm Course:

  • Interested candidates should have qualified the 10+2 or any equivalent examination from a recognized board.
  • Candidates must secure at least 50% marks in PCB group. The minimum marks required for ST/SC candidates to be considered eligible for the KCET 2019 is 40%.

Some important dates to remember

The online application form for KCET 2019 has already been made available on their official website. The same will be available till 28th of February, 2019. It has been expected that more than 1.7 lakh candidates will be attending the exam this year. 6th March, 2019 has been announced to be the last day for candidates to pay the application fees. The admit cards for KCET 2019 is expected to be made available from 16th April, 2019. Once the examinations are over, the results are expected to be announced on 1st June, 2019, while the 2nd week of June is allotted for counseling of KCET qualifiers.
