Architecture has been very strong in the field of profession for quite some years now. With the increase of choices and luxury people have started to hire personal architects to showcase their way into the designs. Along with the rising capital of each person in the country, architecture has showed a specific rise in different areas. It is not limited to just building a simple office or apartment building.

Career Prospects

Architects have the freedom of working on their own if they do not want to work for a company or service provider. They can create their own portfolio from the experience they have gathered and that would fulfil their eligibility criteria. Generally an architect is the one who directly interacts with the clients to understand what they need to do for them. An architect also is responsible for giving better options and alternatives to a client during customisation.

Some of the sectors one can function when joining as an architect would be in Public Works Department (PWD), Ministry of Defence, Archaeological Department, National Building Organisation, National Institute of Urban Affairs, Railways, Public Sector Undertakings (PSU), and Housing and Urban Development Corporation and so on. One has to build a potential and influencing experience filled portfolio to get jobs in these departments.  If a company allows, then work can work both for a company and do freelancing as well.

Paying Bracket

The basic salary for an architect starts from somewhere between Rs 15, 000 to Rs 30, 000 depending on the type of firm and work. After 2 years of experience is registered one can earn more than the basic pay and up to Rs. 50, 000.

Market Demand

The number of colleges is increasing which is pushing out more architects from all over the country and who are trained in an industry complete way. Despite having a surplus of architects in the country the demand seems to be ever increasing. India needs to have at least more than 15,000 trained architects standing at this point.

Diversity of Roles

There are bunch of different roles that a trained architect can play. Some of them are given below:

  • Architect: The basic job of someone who studied architecture is to be an architect. They are responsible for designing and building up a structure according to the needs of their client. They need a legal license for practising their work under a company or individually.
  • Engineer: A person who has two degrees i.e. one of a civil engineer and another of an architect can opt for this profession since it’s a combination of the two. This way they have a much larger area of work because of the wide array of knowledge they posses.
  • Designer: With the choices, level of customisation and capital increase, people have started making their interiors as they like. An architect can always suggest interiors that are long lasting as well as have good designs.

International scope

There is a wider scope in terms of this as a profession when looked outside the country. Big companies and enterprises have their own personal architects where one can apply for. Countries like America, Middle Eastern regions and Asian countries have higher requirements.

With the information given above one can simply get the idea of how the whole sector is doing and if selecting this as a career option is viable enough.
