Executive MBA Programs in India

Coming to India There is some misinterpretation of "Executive MBA as well as 'One Year MBA and PGDM executive programs. To better understand the situation, an understanding of the past is helpful.

In 2001 ISB Hyderabad launched its post-experience, one-year full-time residence MBA equivalent program known as Post Graduate Program (PGP). In 2006, IIM Ahmedabad launched its Post Graduate Program of Management and Executives'. These are a one-year full-time, full-time residential program that is commonly referred to as PGPX. In the coming months, IIM Calcutta too launched its Post Graduate Executive Programme', or "PGPEX." The year 2009 was when IIM Bangalore launched the 'Executive Post Graduate Programme in Management, also known as EPGP. The IIMC's PGPEX and IIMB's EPGP were full-time, one-year residential MBA equivalent programs.

Because the term "Executive" is used in virtually all one-year MBA programs offered by IIMs media. The general public began to refer to the One Year MBA equivalent programs as Executive MBAs. The one-year residential MBA programs provided by IIMs are not part-time or modular Executive MBA programs, as EMBAs are referred to globally. The confusion was further exacerbated by the fact that AICTE, the authority for management education in India, has allowed PGDM B-schools to provide 'Executive PGDM, an all-inclusive, residential 15-month MBA similar program. This meant that XLRI provided PGDM (General Management) and MDI provided the National Management Programme (NMP). More than 25 B-schools like SPJIMR Mumbai, IMT Ghaziabad, IMI New Delhi, Great Lakes Chennai, K J Somaiya Mumbai, BIMTECH Greater Noida, SDMIMD Mysore offer PGDM Executive courses within Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, and many other cities.
