The ministry said that the decision was taken considering the future of over 13,000 MBBS candidates who were not eligible for the NEET PG 2023 exam due to the delayed internship.

More than 3,000 BDS candidates and 13,000 MBBS students in five States/UTs were ineligible for NEET PG and NEET MDS 2023.

The students had been pushing for an extension in the NEET PG 2023 exam by two to three weeks to decrease the gap between the result declaration and the counseling process. Despite receiving no resolution from the concerned authorities on the matter despite several requests and deliberations, the doctors under the (FAIMA) Federation of All India Medical Association staged a protest yesterday at Jantar Mantar.
