William Carey University

William Carey University (WCU), Shillong is a Private University established in Meghalaya By an Act of Parliament.It came into existence on 1st March 2005. The university lays special emphasis on environmental and socio-economic development of North East India through social, economic, environmental, cultural and academic activities. It offers mainly post graduate courses as well as paramedical,graduate courses. WCU is operated by Mississippi Baptist Convention in Hattiesbburg,Mississippi. It was founded in July 1979 and has done commendable work in the education field. It is affiliated to International Council for Higher Education, Zurich, Switzerland, International Council for Open and Distance Education, Asia Theological Association, City and Guilds (UK). The proposal for establishing William Carey University was submitted to the Secretary, Government of Meghalaya, and Education Department on March 1st, 2006.
