Though more than 70% of the population in Punjab resides in rural areas, facilities of first classes Technical Education are available only in large towns and cities. A rural student could not get the benefits of higher technical education at the college level. Keeping this in view, an urgent need to start Vocational / Technical Courses in the Institutes providing education to the rural area was felt.
