Govt. College for Women, Parade Ground

The college came into being on 1st June 1944 as MAHARANI MAHILA college through mahila education society(registered body of the then prominent and respectable women of jammu ) at the instance of MAHARANI TARA DEVI. It was taken over by the Govt. of J&K on 25th November,1953 and was renamed as Govt. College for Women Parade, Jammu. It continued to be the only women college of Jammu province up to 1971. This is the only college in Jammu Province that offers the largest number of courses ranging from Arts to Science and Commerce to B.C.A with 29 total subject with 55 combinations available to the students. More than 6000 students are pursuing their degrees on various disciplines including PG in Home Science, Computer Applications, Zology,English and Music. The college has faculty strength of 121 teachers.
