Government Polytechnic

The institute was established on 25th may, 1982, to meet the emerging need of skilled diploma engineers and for the development of technical education in the distant tribal area of Chhattisgarh. The institute is located at the heart of city Ambikapur in Surguja Division. Late Mr. S.N. Awasthi was the founder principal of this college. In the session 1983-84, Dept. of Civil Engineering was established with an intake of 30 students .As the district Surguja is known for its abundant mineral resource of Coal and bauxite, thus viewing the growing demands of Mining Engineers, Dept. of Mining and Mine Surveying was established in the session 1988-89. With the passage of time more courses were added in the curriculum. At present there are 06 branches of engineering with an intake of 42 students in each branch. The total intake of students per year is 252. Currently, there are more than 700 students pursuing diploma in this premier institute. The institute has its own building located in a lush
