Graduate Management Admission Council (GMAC) released the NMAT exam details and important dates. Candidates can find the NMAT 2023 exam details on the official website, mba.com. Candidates were able to apply for the NMAT 2023 exam until October 12. Candidates were allowed to choose an exam date using the exam scheduling window until October 12. NMAT 2023 exam is being conducted for MBA admission in 49 b-schools in India. NMAT is also accepted by a few B-schools situated abroad. The exam window for NMAT 2023 started on October 10 and will close on December 19.

Candidates can attempt the NMAT 2023 exam thrice across a testing window. Candidates completing the NMAT registration can select the desired exam date via the exam scheduling window. What is NMAT?

NMAT, or NMAT by GMAC, is a national-level entrance test conducted for MBA admissions at NMIMS University and other reputed B-schools in India and abroad. Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies conducted NMAT until GMAC took over the authority. NMAT is designed to keep the test-taker's convenience in mind. Candidates can choose the exam date and venue preference during the exam window using the NMAT scheduling option. NMAT shares some features with GMAT, such as candidates' ability to choose the preferred date during a testing window and self-schedule the test, time and venue, and appointment date based on the availability of seats at the preferred test centre. The national-level entrance exam, NMAT, is conducted annually during the test window of specified days. NMAT by GMAC score is based on the performance of candidates in three sections, namely, Language Skills, Quantitative Skills and Logical Reasoning.

NMAT 2023 Application Process

The admission process's first step starts with filling out the NMAT 2023 application form. Candidates can complete the NMAT exam registration within the stipulated time. Only the candidates who submit the application form and schedule the exam are issued NMAT 2023 admit cards. The NMAT registration process is available online, and candidates must create a login ID and password to complete the online registration process. Candidates must pay INR 2,800 (excluding GST) against the exam's application fee and slot booking (scheduling). The fee can be paid online using Debit Card, Master Card, Mobile wallet and other options.

After NMAT registration, the test reschedule option is enabled in the student account. To reschedule the NMAT 2023 test, candidates have to apply for the NMAT exam reschedule option less than 72 hours from the date and schedule of the test. NMAT rescheduling steps can also be completed through the same candidate dashboard. The retake fee is INR 2,800, and the rescheduling fee is INR 1,200.

NMAT Eligibility Criteria 2023

The exam conducting authority has specified the below-mentioned eligibility criteria for NMAT 2023. Candidates need to fulfill eligibility requirements before NMAT registration.

  1. Candidates must have completed graduation under 10+2+3 or four years of education from any stream.
  2. Secured not less than 50 percent aggregate in the final year of graduation
  3. Candidates awaiting results or in their final graduation year can apply for NMAT 2023. Admission is granted on a provisional basis until the graduation mark sheet and certificate of the qualifying examination are submitted

Candidates must also check the eligibility criteria of NMAT-participating colleges individually before registering for the examination. Applicants must select five institutes of their preference for admission while applying, and those institutes may have different eligibility criteria.

NMAT 2023 Exam Scheduling

GMAC conducts NMAT within a specified window. After submitting the application form, candidates can proceed to schedule the exam. Using the exam scheduling window, candidates must specify a date and test city to appear for the exam. Only the candidates who schedule the NMAT exam will be allowed to appear for the exam. The exam scheduling is available on the NMAT login dashboard.

NMAT 2023 Admit Card

After the candidates complete the NMAT 2023 application process and pay the application fee, they must book their preferred exam slot and download the NMAT 2023 admit card simultaneously. The admit card for NMAT 2023 is available for download until the examination day. 

NMAT 2023 Preparation Tips

NMAT, like any other MBA entrance exam, is a speed-based test. Thus, the entire preparation must be aligned with this thought. Candidates need to follow NMAT preparation strategies, which help them build speed and accuracy levels to answer questions in the test. To build speed and accuracy, candidates must catch up on the best books for NMAT preparation, five years of NMAT sample papers, and attempt the mock tests. Keep the following points in mind to prepare for the test:

  • Devote three to four months to build conceptual clarity on topics included in the NMAT syllabus.
  • Analyze your preparation level by practising NMAT question papers
  • Create notes of each topic while studying and revise them from time to time
  • Discuss your doubts with peers and mentors to clear them up.

NMAT Exam Detail

NMAT 2023 is being conducted as the Computer-based Test (CBT) and the Internet-Based Test (IBT), wherein candidates can take the test from home online, remotely proctored. However, the IBT facility is only available for candidates taking the test outside India. The test-takers need to solve 108 MCQs in 120 minutes. There is a sectional time limit for the NMAT 2023 exam. The online exam has three sections: Language Skills, Quantitative Skills and Logical Reasoning.

Selection Process

The next stage of the NMAT selection process is the Group Discussion and Personal Interview (GD & PI) round conducted by the participating institutes.

The participating institute may also conduct a WAT (Writing Ability Test) or Case Discussion (CD) round instead of the conventional GD round. The final admission decision is based on the combined performance in the NMAT online test and GD-PI round.
