MAT 2023 exam registration for the December phase has started. To apply for the MAT exam, candidates must register at the AIMA website and pay the requisite fee. The MAT fee has been increased to INR 2,100. In the MAT December 2023 phase, one PBT, two CBTs and three IBTs will be held. The result will be announced in the last week of December 2023, and the scorecard will be posted in the student dashboard. The December 2023 MAT scores will be valid for admission to the 2024-2026 MBA batch at all participating institutes. Read below all about MAT 2023.

What is the MAT Exam?

The All India Management Association conducted MAT( Management Aptitude Test), a national-level entrance exam for admissions to MBA/PGDM courses at 800+ B-schools in India. The exam is conducted in numerous sessions in four phases – February, May, September and December. The MAT question paper carries 200 questions from English, Reasoning, Data Interpretation, Quantitative Aptitude and General Awareness. 

MAT exam is conducted in offline PBT (Paper Based Exam), online  CBT (Computer Based Test) and remotely proctored (Internet Based Test or IBT) modes. MAT fees, exam pattern and syllabus for all three modes are the same, but admit card download and exam dates are different. Candidates can take multiple attempts in any mode of their choice. They must register for each session separately. The score of the last MAT test will be taken into consideration for admission.

MAT Eligibility Criteria 2023

To be able to appear for the MAT exam, aspirants have to fulfil certain academic requirements fixed by the agency as per the government rule. Given below are the eligibility criteria for MAT exam 2023:

  • Candidates should have completed graduation in any discipline or equivalent degree from a recognised university.
  • Final-year graduation students awaiting their results can also apply for MAT 2023.
  • There is no minimum score requirement for MAT. Candidates with passing marks can apply.
  • Candidates with a professional degree such as CA, CS or ICWA are also eligible to apply for the MAT exam.

What is MAT's age limit?

There is no age limit for appearing in the MAT exam. Any aspirants who have a graduation degree can appear for MAT. They can be fresh graduates or professionals with several years of work experience. A good number of MAT applicants are working professionals who are pursuing to enhance their management skills by pursuing an MBA course. At the same time, many fresh graduates also apply for MAT. Especially from a non-technical background, the difficulty level is not as high as CAT or XAT exams. Since MAT is accepted by MBA colleges for Executive MBA, Online MBA, Part-Time MBA and Distance MBA courses, many working professionals appear for the MAT exam.

MAT Registration Process 2023

The MAT application process is identical for all three exam modes - PBT, CBT and IBT. The MAT December 2023 registration process is underway, and candidates can apply for their preferred exam mode and session at the AIMA website. Check below the process to apply for the MAT exam:

  • Open the AIMA-MAT website in a new browser: https://mat.aima.in/
  • Enter name, date of birth, mobile phone number, email ID, state, city, test mode and a password
  • Click on 'register' to create a login account
  • On the next page, select the preferred test mode (CBT, IBT, PBT,) test cities and five B-Schools
  • Make a fee payment of INR 2,100 via debit/credit card, net banking or e-wallet 
  • Fill out the MAT exam application form with relevant information
  • Upload a recent passport-size photo and scanned signature
  • Fill in the remaining fields and click on submit
  • An acknowledgement will be shared in an email.

MAT Admit Card 2023

MAT admit cards are released on the official website. In order to download the hall ticket, candidates need to key in the registration number and birth date on the login page of the AIMA-MAT website. Below are the steps to download the MAT admit card:

  • Open the MAT 2023 website
  • Go to 'download/view'
  • Select ' MAT admit card' from the drop-down
  • Enter your email ID, password and date of birth
  • Download the MAT 2023 admit card 

The admit card will be released for IBTs too. Candidates taking MAT IBT must upload/show their admit card for the identification process through remote proctoring during the exam.

MAT Dec 2023 Syllabus is divided into 5 key sections, namely Language Comprehension, Data Analysis and Sufficiency, Mathematical skills, Indian and Global Environment, Intelligence and Critical Reasoning, with 40 questions in each section. The questions in each section, as per the MAT exam 2023 syllabus, are moderately difficult.

MAT Exam Day Guidelines 

  • MAT IBT requires setting up a laptop or desktop and checking the internet connection at least an hour before the exam.
  •  For MAT IBT mode, candidates should dress formally and have their admit card and other documents ready for remote verification.
  • MAT PBT and CBT are conducted from 10:00 AM to 12:30 PM. Candidates have to report to the exam center by 8:30 AM.
  • Candidates should carry a blue or black ballpoint pen with them. CBT mode candidates will need it for signing the attendance sheet, and PBT mode candidates will need it for filling the OMR sheet and signing the attendance sheet.
  • Phones, calculators, electronic watches, or any such item is prohibited at the exam center; hence, candidates must ensure they do not carry any such item on exam day.
  • Digital or photocopy of the MAT admit card will not be considered valid ID proof, so carry the original copy of your admit card.

Also, carry the below-mentioned documents to the MAT exam center for PBT and CBT mode exams:

  • Admit card: Two printouts.
  • Self-declaration for COVID-19: Attached with admit card
  • Identity proof: Any of the following documents (in original) - Voter ID, Aadhaar Card, Election I-Card, Passport, Driving License and PAN Card
  • Proof of name change (if any): In case you have changed your name, you will be required to carry a document supporting the change of name
  • Caste certificate (if applicable): If you belong to the SC/ST/OBC category, you are required to carry a caste certificate
