A specialized field of medical science known as a master of dental surgery science concentrates only on the oral, jaw, dental section and other facial. MDS is a three years long program. Candidates with a Bachelor's degree in Dental Science and, in special cases, 1-year internship experience can only apply for this course.

The MDS course is recognized by the Dental Council of India (DCI). It is offered in various specializations, including Prosthodontics and Crown & Bridge, Periodontology, Conservative Dentistry and Endodontics, Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery, Orthodontics and Oral Medicine and Radiology.

The MDS course syllabus includes both theoretical and practical aspects of dental treatment. Students must undergo rigorous clinical training and attend lectures, seminars, and conferences to develop their skills and knowledge in Dentistry. The MDS degree is designed to equip students with the necessary skills to diagnose, prevent, and treat dental and oral diseases for them to be able to become MDS doctors.
