Maharaja Agrasen Medical College Becomes First To Establish NCC Wing For MBBS Students

The medical students who pursue their studies at Hisar's Maharaja Agrasen Medical College (MAMC) will see their overall development improve as the college has established the National Cadet Corps (NCC) Wing for medicos.

This means that MAMC is now the first medical school in Haryana to provide NCC wings to their students and is the third medical school in India, says Tribune India.

For the 18 seats of the NCC, the test was conducted at the medical school, and more than 40 MBBS students took the exam, the spokesperson for MAMC has told the media daily.

After passing the written and physical examinations, Students also had to appear for an interview with Colonel SS Gill, Commanding Officer of the Third Haryana Battalion, NCC.

In announcing that NCC is the best choice for the development of students, Col Gill further informed The Tribune that NCC helps students in their early years to focus their energy toward a more positive direction. He said, "The NCC is a good opportunity for students who can serve in the Army as doctors."

When addressing the issue in his comments, the NCC officer of the college, Satyendar Jain, referred to this change as a source which is an issue of pride for Hisar and the state. He said, "At present, 18 seats have been earmarked for the college, which will be increased in future."

Exclaiming their delight about this directorship, the Director of MAMC, Dr Alka Chhabra, and the Director of Administration, Dr Ashutosh Singh, also highlighted how NCC would instil a sense of responsibility and discipline in the students.
