Guru Nanak Institute of Hotel Management is one of India's top private hotel management institutes. The All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) has certified the GNIHM. The University Grants Commission (UGC) has recognized the institute as well. Established in 2005 under the JIS Group Educational Initiatives in Kolkata, GNIHM offers seven undergraduate courses, two postgraduate courses, and a diploma. The courses include B.A, BBA, B.Sc, M.Sc, and MBA. Admissions to the courses are entrance-based. The examination scores considered for admissions are of the All-India level Joint Entrance Test (JET), conducted by the institute itself.

GNIHM Kolkata offers seven undergraduates, two postgraduate, and one diploma course.

GNIHM Admissions

Admissions to all courses are based on an All India Joint Entrance Test (JET), also called JIS Entrance Test. The duration of the paper is a 2-hour paper, with 120 marks. Questions are from General Knowledge, General Intelligence, and General English. There are no negative markings. The exam is to be held on 4th and 11th September. Applications are accepted online.

Applicants who are qualified with NCHMCT-JEE can apply for direct admission.

Offline method

• Collect the application and the prospectus from the Guru Nanak IHM campus, or download it from the official website.
• Payment of INR 1000 should be made by cash or cheque.
• A Demand draft can also be made in favor of "Guru Nanak Institute of Hotel Management" payable at Kolkata.
• Submit the filled-up application form by post to the Guru Nanak IHM campus.

Documents required

The documents required for verification purposes while reporting to the college include:

• Attested copies of the registration card
• Attested copies of admit cards.
• Mark sheet
• Certificate of secondary and higher secondary examination.
• Passport size photographs
• Character certificate.
• Transfer certificate.

NIHM Kolkata Facilities

Some of the facilities provided by the institute include:

• Hostel: GNIHM has got 2 hostels for both boys and girls located within the college premises. The residential facilities are well-equipped with adequate resources that ensure students' comfortable and hygienic living standards. Full-time boarding is also provided to students seven days a week, along with 4 meals a day.
• Seminar Hall: A seminar hall is available with modern furnishing. The acoustics has also been well-built to conduct paper presentations, workshops, debates, intercollegiate competitions, and guest lectures.
• Computer lab: GNIHM contains a computer lab consisting of 40 open-access computers. The Internet is available to students during college hours.
• Library: The library consists of a collection of over 6000 books. There are also general and trade journals, as well as a variety of skill-oriented audio-visual training cassettes.
• Gym: The college has a well-equipped gym to ensure students' physical and mental well-being.
• Healthcare: The campus has a medical center with a qualified physician and trained nurse to treat staff, students, and campus residents without charging them.

GNIHM Placements

Students of GNIHM receive training for about 17-22 weeks duration across India and abroad at five-star hotels. GNIHM has collaborations with various institutes for training and placement in various countries such as the USA, UAE, Dubai, Malaysia, and Europe.
