DM in Paediatric and Neonatal Anaesthesia is a super specialty level course for doctors in India that they do after completing their postgraduate medical degree course. This super specialty course is three years and focuses on the study of anesthetic management of neonates, infants, and children. It includes neonatal physiology, fluid management, anesthetic equipment, and the conduct of anesthesia in children, along with postoperative analgesia.

The course is a full-time program followed at various acknowledged medical colleges nationwide. Seth GS Medical College and KEM Hospital, Mumbai, are the medical colleges offering this course.

Admission to this course is done via the NEET-SS Entrance exam conducted by the NBE, followed by counseling based on the exam scores that DGHS/MCC/State Authorities conduct.

The fee for pursuing varies from college to college and may range from Rs. 3 lakhs to Rs. 20 lakhs per year.

After completing their program, doctors can enter the job market or follow certificate and Fellowship programs recognized by NMC and NBE. Candidates can take reputed jobs as Consultants, Senior residents etc., with an approximate salary range of Rs.12 lakhs to Rs. 22 lakhs per year, depending upon their expertise.

Eligibility Criteria

·The student must have acquired permanent registration with any State Medical Council to be qualified for admission.

· The medical institute's recognition cut-off dates for the PG Degree courses shall be as prescribed by the Medical Council of India (now NMC).

Admission Process

• National Eligibility Entrance Test for Super specialty programs, is a national-level master's level exam conducted by the NBE for admission to DM/MCh/DrNB Programs.
• Qualifying Criteria-Students placed at the 50th percentile or above shall be declared eligible in the NEET-SS in their respective specialty.

• Students from all eligible feeder specialty subjects shall be needed to appear in the question paper of the respective group if they are willing to opt for a super specialty course in any of the super specialty courses covered in that group.
• A student can opt to appear in the question papers of as many groups for which his/her PG specialty credentials are an eligible feeder qualification.
• By appearing in the question paper of a group and preparing for the exam, a student shall be eligible to exercise his/her choices in the counseling only for those super specialty subjects covered in the said group for which his/ her broad specialty is an eligible feeder qualification.
